Grand Bahama Shipyard Ltd is recruiting Three (3) STEEL PLATE FOREMEN. The successful candidates will lead the team members by example and administer Company Procedures and work Instructions from the Department Manager. They will be responsible for the safe and efficient execution of works within the designated work area.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for supervising and coordinating production activities of the Steel Department.
• Ensures that production schedules are completed on time.
• Analyzes work orders and blueprints to determine need for supplies and sequence of operations required.
• Inspects his/her work to maintain specified standards and quality.
• Train workers in operation of equipment.
• Adherence to all Company policies and procedures
• To share and promote our Company ‘Values’.
• Actively participate in Company NearMiss reporting system.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Education or technical diploma in relevant field.
• Must have a minimum of 10 years relevant experience in the Ship Steel Plater Field.
• Must have a minimum of five (5) years Shipyard experience in a similar role.
• Will oversee Safety and Security policy’s as well as Company goals.
• Supervise the performance of work in the Department and ensures work is accomplished as per approved drawings and construction specifications.
• Able to read and interpret Fabrication Drawings and Plans and can decipher weld symbols and instructions.
• Must have common knowledge and understanding of the International Association of Classification Society Rules and Regulations. Examples Include Class Societies (LR, DNVGL, ABS, NK).
• The foreman coordinates all activities as per Steel Plater Trade Managers’ instruction.
• Ability to write Condition or Found as Reports.
• Ability to prepare material take off, prepare purchase requisition, prepare cut-list.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Physically must be able to Climb, Walk, Bend, and Lift.
• Ability to work with limited supervision.
