Grand Bahama Shipyard Ltd is recruiting an Electrician.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Removing, dismantling, examining, servicing, repairing, replacing, rebuilding, testing, adjusting and installing of electrical machinery and motors, generators, transformers, switchgear, control equipment, instruments etc.
• Inspecting and testing of electrical equipment.
• Installing, tagging, ringing out, megger testing and jointing of cable systems.
• Connection of ship’s shore systems.
• Be able to work at heights, confined spaces, various climates and conditions.
• Maintaining all Safety Rules and Standards at all times.
• You may also be required to work in other areas as workload dictates and where your skill levels are determined to be adequate.
• Respect and promote the proper use of yard facilities, equipment, tools, workshops, and machinery.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates professionalism, discipline, and leadership in fostering a culture of trust, respect, and inclusivity among all team members.
• Promote and uphold company ‘Values’ and contribute to a culture of safety and operational excellence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Successfully completed a City & Guilds Trade Apprenticeship in the marine industry or hold an equivalent internationally recognized Trade qualification in that industry (for example, NVQ Level 3 Trade certifications, National Trade Certificate/ITI, TESDA NCII/NCIII, or comparable standards). Proof of certification will be required.
• Have 5 yrs prior shipyard /or relevant heavy industrial experience
• Ability to connect and operate electrical equipment safely and accurately
• Ability to remove, dis-assemble, service, repair, test, re-assemble, adjust and install electrical equipment
• Ability to understand electrical systems and the function of ship’s equipment
• Physically must be able to climb, walk, bend and lift
• Must be able to communicate effectively with the Department Manager, Foreman and Charge Hands and other electricians within the department
• Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work with limited supervision
• Adherence to all Company Policies and Procedures
