NIGHT SHIFT MANAGER

A vacancy exists for a Night Shift Manager. The Night Shift Manager is responsible for the overall safe and efficient Night shift operations of the onboard ship repairs of vessels in the yard and away from yard.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for the safe execution of night shift ship’s repair activities in the yard and away from yard as per the handover notes.
• Coordinate with supervision of all trades that vessels and workshops to ensure that all activities during the night shift are being progressed in a timely and efficient manner.
• Enforce all labour and personnel in the shipyard, including sub-contractors, are working to GBSY safety standards.
• Monitor and report on the nightshift employees’ and sub-contractor attendance.
• Produce a written report of the nightshift activities, including but not limited to safety concerns or improvements, equipment, and staff concerns.
• Report incidents (safety, environmental, and property damage) immediately to Health & Safety, then to Line Manager.
• Actively participate in incident investigations and support timely closeout of corrective actions as required.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Promote and uphold company ‘Values’ and contribute to a culture of safety and operational excellence.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPECTATIONS REQUIRED:

• Minimum 15 years’ supervisory experience in Ship’s repairs in shipyard, offshore, or heavy engineering environments.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in an engineering discipline or related management degree, or as a minimum, graduation from an apprenticeship program and High School Diploma or equivalent.
• IT literate in the MS Office suite of applications, with emphasis on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Familiarity with digital tools or shipyard ERP systems.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the principal shipyard hazards and the control measures implemented to minimise risk.
• Strong communication skills, with proven experience working within multinational teams.
• Exhibits a leadership mentality, situational awareness, and a proactive safety mindset.
• Advocate of the Safety Absolutes Program, consistently addressing cases of non-compliance and completing the reporting obligations.
• Commitment to continual professional development.
