A vacancy exists within the Technical Department for a Junior Planner. The Junior Planner will assist in the planning, scheduling, and coordination of ship repair and conversion projects. This role offers a great opportunity to develop planning / project management skills in a fast-paced environment, while working closely with experienced Planners, Technical, Projects and Production teams.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating project schedules using planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project)
• Support the creation of detailed work breakdown structures to ensure efficient execution of ship repair / conversion projects.
• Collaborate with Projects team to allocate labor, materials, and equipment for assigned tasks
• Support Project Planners track project progress, update schedules, report deviations from the plan
• Assist in identifying potential project risks and suggest mitigation strategies
• Support preparing progress reports, project dashboards, and schedule variance analyses for Projects team
• Work closely with Project Managers, Technical, Procurement, and Production teams to ensure alignment with project goals
• Ensure all planning documents are accurately maintained and comply with yard policies and industry regulations
• Support process improvements related to scheduling and project planning best practices
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Completion of a four (4) year Shipbuilding Apprenticeship Program.
• Associate Degree in an Engineering Technology or Business Operations Management related discipline.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in project planning, preferably in ship repair, shipbuilding, or a heavy industrial environment.
• Proficiency in project planning software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent.
• Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Understanding of ship repair processes and marine industry operations.
• Understanding of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices in industrial settings
