Donald "Don" Kierce
Donald “Don” Kierce joined the Grand Bahama shipyard team in November 2010. Before joining GBSL, Don was a Consultant for Project Solution/ Ship Constructors where he managed the new construction of 3 oil tanker power modules. He started his career in ship repair in 1988 as an Apprentice Ship fitter at Kings Bay Submarine Base. During his 28 year career in the marine industry, he has successfully embraced positions in production from an apprentice to production manager. With over 20 years of operational management experience in new construction and ship repair. He constructively integrates knowledge of industry technical practices, production operations, and resource management. Don utilizes a team building management style expeditiously achieving defined objectives and promoting long-term successful relationships.
During Don’s 10 year tenure at Tampa Bay Ship building and Repair, he provided technical and construction management support for the company partnered with yard management. Providing build strategies, schedules an achievable budgets. Supervised 3 double hull and mid-body conversions for Maritrans and improving profitability with the use of new technology and build strategies.
As Vice President of Operation for GBSL, Don leads the day to day production activities and primary focuses on the operating levels of all departments with hands on approach ensuring the continual growth of GBSL employees.
Don is committed to supporting his colleagues in expansion at Grand Bahama Shipyard and inspiring a new generation to the Maritime Industry.
