Steven K. Jervis
Steven Jervis joined the Grand Bahama Shipyard team in November 2015. He is an experienced business leader, having been involved at senior levels within the aerospace and ship repair industry, prior to starting his own company to develop a real estate opportunity in the Bahamas.
Steve was still in his twenties when he was appointed as Managing Director of a UK based aerospace company, Dowty Aerospace Wolverhampton, employing 485 highly skilled engineers, administrative staff and blue collar workers. During his time as MD the company was highly successful winning major contracts on the Boeing 777, following very significant improvements in operational performance.
Steve was then recruited by Schroder Ventures to help turnaround a struggling ship repair business, A&P Appledore that had been purchased some three years previously. Within five years, as Group Managing Director, Steve and his team had created the largest ship repair business in Europe with some 3000 employees, entering new markets such as the FPSO conversion sector of the Oil and Gas industry and securing major refit contracts within the Cruise business, most notably on the QE2. The company was sold to the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Following the sale of A&P, Steve formed a new company, KST Investments, for the purposes of developing Shoreline, a luxury real estate development located in Grand Bahama. Working in partnership with the Grand Bahama Development Company, KST completed the project widely accepted as one of the most successful developments in the country in over twenty years.
Steve has nearly twenty five years of overall P&L responsibility working across three industries; firstly in a corporate UK PLC environment, followed by a portfolio company of a major private equity firm, and eventually in running his own property and construction business. He has been able to manage a startup company in a foreign country and turn around two UK engineering businesses with equal success; one in a highly sophisticated aerospace environment and a second requiring the refocusing of a more traditional heavy engineering company, in each case identifying new markets and adopting a more disciplined business approach.
Throughout his career Steve has been able to analyze the current business operation, identify new market opportunities, recruit effective management teams, motivate existing employees and restructure an organization where necessary to significantly improve company performance, profitability and shareholder value.
