Dave Skentelbery joined the Grand Bahama Shipyard in January 2016 as VP of Commercial after a two-year period in India where he commissioned and started a new ship repair yard.
Dave is an experienced marine industry executive with over 40 years working in the industry. He started his career in the Merchant Navy, has a Masters Foreign going certificate and has served as Master on Offshore Vessels. On coming ashore Dave was the Operations Director for the world’s largest fleet of independently owned cable ships where he was responsible for both operational and technical performance of the fleet including global ship repair, conversion, and new build contracts. He has operated at board level since 1992 in marine businesses and in many countries including, China, Singapore, and India. Dave was also a Director and shareholder of the A&P ship repair and conversion Group in the UK from 2001 to 2010 where he was part of the team that turned it from a loss-making ship repair business into a profitable organization which continues to flourish. On leaving A&P Dave had set up his own successful marine consultancy where he remains a shareholder but no longer takes an active role. His aim is to assist GBSL in creating its own synergy and success from here on.
