Founded in 2000 with a single Panamax dock, Grand Bahama Shipyard Limited has grown from humble beginnings to become the world leader in refits, refurbishments and revitalizations. Grand Bahama Shipyard Limited accommodates vessels from the Cruise, Commercial and Off Shore segments of the shipping industry. The Yard is strategically located in Freeport, Grand Bahama, Bahamas, approximately 100 miles east of Miami, Florida along all the major shipping routes.

Acting Chief Executive Officer

Dave Skentelbery joined the Grand Bahama Shipyard in January 2016 as VP of Commercial after a two year period in India where he commissioned and started a new ship repair yard.

Dave is an experienced marine industry executive with over 40 years working in the industry. He started his career in the Merchant Navy, has a Masters Foreign going certificate and has served as Master on Offshore Vessels.

Linda Turnquest has been an invaluable member of the Grand Bahama Shipyard team since its inception. She received her Bachelors in Accounting from the University Of Houston, University Park, with a minor in Computer Science, and later passed the American Institute of Certified Public Accountant Examination on her first attempt.

Linda began her career at Chevron Oil Bahamas Ltd. a subsidiary of Chevron International Oil Company of San Francisco, California as a staff accountant, and later transferred to Bahamas Oil Refining Company (BORCO).

Vice President Sales and Marketing

Robert “Graham” Couser, now VP of Sales and Marketing, began April 2000 as Commercial Manager of the initial Freeport, Bahamas facility under the UK-based ship repair company Cammell Laird. Graham, as part of the Cammell Laird team who procured the now known Grand Bahama Shipyard from Lloyd Werft, developed the business strategy and world-wide marketing of the Yard. He continued in this role when Grand Bahama Shipyard, Limited replaced Cammell Laird, Bahamas. In his 16-year tenure, Graham help to build the facility from a single dry dock to the current expanded facility with three dry docks, a pier and fully serviced wharf with future expansion plans.

Donald "Don" Kierce, Jr

Donald "Don" Kierce, Jr

Vice President Operations

Donald “Don” Kierce joined the Grand Bahama shipyard team in November 2010. Before joining GBSL, Don was a Consultant for Project Solution/ Ship Constructors where he managed the new construction of 3 oil tanker power modules. He started his career in ship repair in 1988 as an Apprentice Ship fitter at Kings Bay Submarine Base. During his 28 year career in the marine industry, he has successfully embraced positions in production from an apprentice to production manager. With over 20 years of operational management experience in new construction and ship repair. He constructively integrates knowledge of industry technical practices, production operations, and resource management. Don utilizes a team building management style expeditiously achieving defined objectives and promoting long-term successful relationships.
